Nakhshi Kotha
Students explored the concept of ‘reuse and recycle’ by introducing them to the historical and social context of quilting as a method of layering old fabrics, which Bangladeshi women developed over time, to make new textiles for the home and for clothing.
Tasnia worked with a group of local women from the area around the Brady Centre sharing knowledge of traditional stories and stitching with the young people. A group hanging was made using traditional Nakhshi Kotha embroidery.
