As a textile designer, I specialise in woven textiles as a medium to visually narrate stories of nostalgic feelings, memories and childhood moments. Blending my Bangladeshi culture and London roots together plays a significant part in my creative practice. This helps me to interweave themes of identity, land and home which is reflected in the research I gather.
I have worked with A Team Arts Education for over 5 years. From being a student to a volunteer and now a mentor, I have been able to see young people thrive in this space, exploring all avenues of the creative sector.

Annie
Associate Artist
I hold a degree in Fashion Styling and Communication from Middlesex University and specialise in mixed media, textiles, and embroidery.
I currently work part-time as a creative arts teacher in a specialist school for autistic students and I also run arts & crafts workshops for young people and adults in the community.
Recently I’ve been delivering embroidery sessions for young people who attend sessions with A Team Arts Education, helping them build confidence and creative skills through hands-on textile work.
My inclusive approach prioritises wellbeing, creative freedom, and self- expression, offering a therapeutic space where individuals of all backgrounds and abilities feel valued, and empowered through art.

Berni
Associate Artist
I have been an instrumental figure of British fashion for the last 25 years through my work as change maker for inclusivity at Central Saint Martins and as an education consultant working with grassroots organisations across the UK.
I have dedicated my career to supporting access to arts education for first generation students and young people from lower income backgrounds.
As a result, I now lead on Knowledge Exchange for the Fashion Programmes at Central Saint Martins.
I started working with A Team Arts Education in 2009 and have continued this highly successful partnership as I enjoy watching the young people thrive and progress in the Arts.
I am also a contributing editor for ELLE UK.

Elisabeth
Associate Artist
I joined A Team Arts Education during a work experience placement in 2023 and have become an integral part of the core team since then.
I have a background in artist facilitation and have worked with a variety of community groups since I graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2017.
I lead and support sessions as part of the Saturday Support programme such as art workshops, field trips, and curation – as well as engaging with peer artists, galleries and other creatives.
It is a great joy to be a part of a C.I.C. based in Tower Hamlets that connects contemporary artists with local young people who may have limited access to the art

Emily

I am textile designer and natural colourist with seven year’s experience working in the textile and fashion industry.
My work combines traditional natural dyeing techniques with innovative research to create colours from waste streams.
I am passionate about sharing my knowledge to create sustainable colour for textiles and love inspiring young people and fostering a fun, engaging learning environment where creativity thrives, encouraging the next generation to explore sustainable colour making.

Florence

My Textiles Print degree at Nottingham Trent University gave me the chance to be experimental and was the perfect start to my career which has enabled me to be multi skilled.
I worked for a fashion designer as assistant designer and head printer and then moved into community education with diverse organisations including A Team Arts Education; running workshops, facilitating and being part of the core creative team, alongside my work as a Print Technician at London College of Fashion.
I am excited by being part of young people’s creative journey from school to Art College and beyond, and I am uniquely placed to do this.

Joygun
Associate Artist
I studied BA Textile Design as a mature student at Central Saint Martins after foundation studies at Working Men’s College.
I specialised in woven textiles, gravitating towards off – loom weaving outdoors, using unusual materials.
While at CSM, I became a Student Ambassador, this led me to discover my passion for teaching. Assisting with A Team Arts Education enabled me to inspire and support young people in their creative journey.
After graduating, I began focusing on community workshops that blend storytelling with textiles.
My work fosters a sense of connection, inviting participants to rediscover hands-on craftsmanship whilst rethinking and reusing unconventional materials and recycling to promote sustainability.

Nahid
Associate Artist
As a former young person who attended A Team Arts sessions in the past, I understand the importance of having a supportive community that allowed me to explore my artistic self.
I want to replicate that feeling and expand it with this generation of young people.
A Team Arts Education sessions continue to be an opportunity to experiment and discover so much more about the creative industry. Seeing new minds interact with art mediums for the first time is truly inspirational.
A Team Arts Education has been a special place for myself and I hope I can continue to make it a safe and encouraging place for the new generation.

Nowshin
Associate Artist
I joined A Team Arts in 2010 for the Summer Academy fashion project ‘Liquid History’, although
I was interested in Architecture at the time. The staff supported me into a Foundation course at CSM where I changed direction to focus on textiles, specialising in weave.
My work celebrates the tactile nature of textiles and the meditative process of making, inviting viewers to engage with colour.
Every year I have come back to A Team to help, and advise young people who are progressing towards arts careers.
I graduated from CSM in 2023 and now have a studio with Cockpit Arts in Deptford.
As a Textile Artist, my specialisations are in woven textile design.
My process investigates expressive winding techniques using hand-dyed silk exploring the relationship between colour, line and form to creating layered textiles.
By layering threads in varying orders and tensions, enables me to create intricate compositions that blur the line between craft and visual art.
My work celebrates the tactile nature of textiles and the meditative process of making, inviting viewers to engage with colour and material in a deeply sensory way.
