Brady Legacy Project
2022 - 2023
In celebration of the Brady Club Exhibition in September 2022, young people from A Team Arts Education devised The Brady Legacy Project. This is an art-based project, exploring the heritage of the area that aims to bring together different generations of Bradonians. Some who attended during 1950-70 and others from more recent times will all share their experiences coming to the Brady Centre. This collaboration created responses using photography, textiles, and other art forms.
The project drew inspiration from stories and memories of the Brady Centre’s past, present, and hopes for the future. Helping to bring together different age groups, the skills shared focused on traditional craft skills such as sewing, embroidery and weaving.
The Brady Legacy Project focused on promoting community cohesion, equality and supporting young people’s mental health and well-being using crafts and other creative processes, and included a leadership programme for young people to develop their leadership skills and assist with preparing for the end-of-project exhibition displayed at the Brady Centre.
